Aside from his position as Chairman of BBR Optometry, Nick Rumney is also Chair of the Admissions Committee for International Fellows for the American Academy of Optometry (AAO).

Open to all optometrists looking to learn and develop their skills, the AAO attracts professionals from across the globe looking to share in best practice and aid professional development.

In October 2015, Nick attended the annual AAO scientific meet in New Orleans, where he presented six optometrists from India with Fellowship Certificates – the largest number of Optometrists to join from this area of the world to date.

Nick comments, “The AAO annual meet provides the opportunity for international optometrists of varying capability to come together under one roof to learn, share and enhance their professional development.

“Optometry practice has always been advanced in western society compared to other areas of the world. However, the large number of Indian representatives at the recent AAO meet demonstrates how the standard of eye care continues to improve and develop worldwide. With that in mind, I was both delighted and honoured to welcome a group of leading Indian optometrists into the AAO, and hope to welcome many more in years to come.”

The AAO felicitates and acknowledges researchers and experts for their contribution to the optometry profession, where those who receive fellowship status are evaluated against the highest standards of professional competence.
