MOSCOT’s timeless eyewear is launched at BBR Optometry

As we mark 50 years of delivering award-winning eye care, it seems appropriate that our newest brand of eyewear is one with an impressive history of its own. You may not have heard of MOSCOT, but you will have seen the frames without even realising and they can now be found in our Hereford-based practice.

MOSCOT is a 5th generation brand with 104 years of eyewear excellence. Hyman Moscot started selling the spectacles from a cart in New York in 1899 and opened a store, which was to become an iconic NY landmark, there in 1915.

At a time where fashion in eyewear is retro and influenced by trends from different decades, perhaps the most exciting element about MOSCOT is that the frames aren’t imitations of past designs, they are the originals. Based on styles from the Moscot family archives, the Originals Collection celebrates the classic good looks and timeless design born in decades past, retaining the authenticity of the original frame styles, including period details, traditional hardware and quality craftsmanship.

In fact, one particular frame from the MOSCOT Originals Collection has been worn by various icons dating back to the early 20th century, including: Cary Grant, James Dean, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp and David Beckham. You can also walk away with the same style frame worn by Andy Warhol, Malcolm X or JFK.

Daniel Craig, Lady Gaga, Rachel Weiss and Christiano Ronaldo are among other various A-list stars who have been spotted wearing MOSCOT designs. Although it’s now recognised as a global fashion brand, MOSCOT remains at heart, a neighbourhood optical shop, which is why it’s so well-loved by BBR.

Daniel Read, practice manager at BBR Optometry comments:

“I love the history and the story behind MOSCOT, but you don’t have to be interested in that or the trends in eyewear, or who’s worn them before to appreciate these frames. If you feel that things aren’t made like they used to be and want something that is of the highest quality, you’ll appreciate MOSCOT frames because they are made with the same solid pinned joints and traditional materials that they always have been.”

MOSCOT frames aren’t just on trend, they’re true classics and allow you to dress yourself in history. The MOSCOT Originals Collection can be found in the practice now, but if you pop along to BBR’s exclusive open day on 8th October between 08:45am and 7:00pm, you can catch a rare view of the MOSCOT Spirit Collection, a range that departs from the Moscot family archives, but shares the same DNA.

Please contact BBR Optometry for more information: 01432 265030 or enquiries@bbroptometry.co.uk.

We look forward to seeing you on 8th October!
